Shuri’s Future in the Marvel Universe: Letitia Wright Hints at What’s Next

The Actress Shares Her Thoughts on Upcoming Roles and the Legacy of Black Panther

Letitia Wright has hinted at her possible return as Shuri in future Marvel films. During an appearance on The View, Wright expressed her desire to continue with her beloved character. When asked about her involvement in the upcoming Avengers movies, The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, slated for May 2026 and May 2027, she replied, “Let’s just say … I would like to continue with Shuri. She’s one of my favorite characters. Such a blessing, honestly. I kid you not, I’m so grateful for her.”

Co-host Sunny Hostin inquired about a potential third Black Panther film, to which Wright coyly responded, “There’s a lot to, a lot to — a lot coming up.” Although a third installment hasn’t been officially announced, the ending of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hints at future developments, introducing Prince T’Challa, son of King T’Challa and Nakia. The sequel’s closing also included a promise: “Black Panther will return.”

During the show, Wright recounted the global impact of the Black Panther films, sharing a touching story about a woman in Peru who told her that Wakanda Forever helped her cope with her brother’s death. Wright also reflected on how the late Chadwick Boseman’s resilience inspired her during a challenging on-set injury while filming the second movie. She said, “I thought a lot about his perseverance and his relentlessness just to keep going no matter what life was throwing at him, and I just thought, like, ‘If my brother could make it, you know, I can get back on set and finish the job.’ So, I just carried that panther spirit with me.”
