Marvel artist receives backlash for criticizingNamor’s Physique
Tenoch Huerta, a Mexican actor, will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the soon-to-be-released movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The actor plays the well-known character Namor the Submariner, who is making his first appearance on the big screen. But not everyone appears to be pleased with his casting. Marvel artist Mike Deodato Jr. criticised the actor’s physique on Tuesday by posting a comparison of his own body with the actor’s, which he later deleted. However, the body shaming did not go down well with fans, and Mike received harsh criticism on Twitter.
The Black Panther 2 teaser that was released earlier this month shows Tenoch’s Aztec-inspired appearance. He shared a screenshot of that scene from the teaser along with a back view photo of himself on Tuesday.
He wrote alongside, “You can tell somebody screwed things up when a character from a movie looks in worse shape than the 60 years old artist who drew him.” He removed the post by Wednesday morning.
