First official trailer released for ‘Wonka,’ starring Timothée Chalamet
Netizens and cinephiles go gaga as Warner Bros. Pictures drop the first official trailer for the upcoming musical fantasy film, ‘Wonka.’
The trailer shows American-French actor Timothée Chalamet as young Willy Wonka and gives an enchanting glimpse of the premise, which is about his adventures before creating the world’s most famous chocolate factory.
The upcoming film, directed by Paul King, is a prequel to the 1964 novel ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ by Roald Dahl and its original 1971 movie adaptation ‘Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.’
According to Warner Bros., the movie will showcase the “vivid, mythical beginnings of the imaginative young inventor before he becomes the renowned scrumdiddlyumptious Mozart of chocolate.”
The ‘Wonka’ trailer debuted at CinemaCon in April 2023 and made its first appearance at the Las Vegas convention in 2022.
The trailer also reveals that Hugh Grant will be playing the role of an Oompa Loompa, which is what a worker at Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory is called.
Earlier, the iconic character of ‘Willy Wonka’ was portrayed by Gene Wilder in the 1971 movie, followed by Johnny Depp in Tim Burton’s 2005 adaptation.
Starring alongside Chalamet and Grant will be Olivia Colman, Keegan-Michael Key, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Calah Lane, Colin O’Brien, Matt Lucas, Simon Farnaby, Natasha Rothwell, Rufus Jones, among others.
