Exciting Developments Unveiled for Spielberg’s Bullitt Project: Bradley Cooper Takes the Lead
In a recent revelation during the press tour for Netflix’s Maestro, Kristie Macosko Krieger, one of Steven Spielberg’s producing partners, shared eagerly anticipated updates on the director’s upcoming Bullitt project. Confirming that the movie is currently in progress, Krieger assured fans of an exhilarating experience, stating, “I’m producing it. Steven [Spielberg] and Josh Singer, who is writing the script, they are working on the story.”
Despite a minor setback due to the writers’ strike causing delays in script development, Krieger expressed optimism about the project’s momentum. She added, “I hope we have a script soon. But they are working on it – I couldn’t tell you if it’s the next movie we are making as I don’t know at this point. I think that it will be a wildly entertaining film.”
Distinguishing the Bullitt project as a reimagining rather than a remake, the film will feature Bradley Cooper stepping into the iconic role of Lieutenant Frank Bullitt, originally portrayed by Steve McQueen in the 1968 Peter Yates film. This collaboration marks the second time Cooper and Spielberg have joined forces, following their close work on Maestro, set to premiere on Netflix this week.
Interestingly, the production of Maestro underwent a directorial shift from Spielberg to Cooper after the latter’s remarkable debut in “A Star is Born.” Cooper not only portrayed Leonard Bernstein but also directed Maestro, with Spielberg continuing as a producer alongside Macosko Krieger.
Josh Singer, the writer for the upcoming Bullitt movie, adds an extra layer of creative synergy, having also contributed to the script of Maestro. As the project unfolds, fans can anticipate a significant and thrilling reunion of talent in the making. Keep those eyes peeled for further developments.
