Amy Adams Dreams of Joining Taylor Swift’s Biopic
The Oscar-Nominated Actress Talks Fan-Casting, Karaoke with Taylor, and Becoming a ‘Swiftie at 50
Amy Adams is embracing her inner Swiftie, and it might just land her in the Taylor Swift cinematic universe.
During her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Adams responded to fan speculation about her playing Tree Paine, Swift’s publicist, in a potential biopic. The six-time Oscar-nominated actress lit up at the idea. “Uh, that would be amazing. That would be so fun,” Adams said. “If it got me closer to Taylor, then…”
A self-proclaimed “Swiftie at 50,” Adams revealed her newfound fandom was sparked by attending Swift’s Eras Tour. “I’ve always liked [Swift’s] music and appreciated her,” she explained. “But the Eras Tour? It turned me into someone who’s like, ‘I’ll take all the friendship bracelets!’ I was like, who am I?”
Adams also shared a nostalgic moment with Swift: singing karaoke together at an after-party years ago. The pair belted out 4 Non Blondes’ What’s Up?. Reflecting on the moment, Adams laughed, “I may have sung a little too loud. Everyone probably wanted to hear Taylor sing, not me. But I had a blast!”
Adams is currently starring in the film Nightbitch, hitting theaters on December 6. Meanwhile, Swift continues expanding her cinematic portfolio, gearing up for her directorial debut with an original screenplay for Searchlight Pictures. Could a Taylor Swift biopic with Amy Adams as Tree Paine be on the horizon? Fans will just have to wait and see.
