Ratings: 3/5

After Raayan’s family is killed, a young man sets out on a quest to find his family’s murderers and seek revenge. During his pursuit, he gets entangled in the criminal underworld. Dhanush’s performance is impressive, as usual. Overall, the movie earns a 3/5 rating.

Plot

Raayan, also known as Kathavaraayan (Dhanush), has two brothers, Muthu (Sundeep Kishan) and Manickam (Kalidas Jayaram), and a sister, Durga (Dushara Vijayan). Their parents mysteriously disappear one day, leaving Raayan with the responsibility of caring for his siblings. They live in a small town ruled by two dangerous gangsters, Saravanan and Sekhar (SJ Suryah).

A newly appointed police commissioner (Prakash Raj) starts investigating the gang activities. In the first half, life appears normal as Manickam attends college, while Muthu and Raayan run a small fast-food stall. The siblings live happily until a tragic accident disrupts their lives, dragging Raayan into the chaos. The story then unfolds with twists and turns that leave the audience stunned.

Review

Dhanush, known for his national award-winning performances, takes on the roles of both actor and director in “Raayan,” a gangster movie. This film marks the 50th of his career. The main characters deliver exceptional performances, and the action sequences are sure to thrill the audience.

A. R. Rahman contributes his musical genius, enhancing the on-screen action with powerful background music. However, the film falls short in emotional depth, with the second half leaving many questions unanswered. Despite these shortcomings, “Raayan” remains a noteworthy entry in Dhanush’s career.
