Rating: 3/5

A fearless Mumbai cop, a shocking murder, and a mind that betrays him—Deva takes you on a thrilling ride where memory loss becomes the biggest obstacle to justice. Shahid Kapoor steps into a role unlike any he has played before, delivering a gripping performance as Dev Ambre. Despite its shortcomings, Deva earns a solid 3/5.

Plot Overview

Dev Ambre (Shahid Kapoor) is a daring police officer known for his sharp instincts. When he eliminates gangster Prabhat Jadhav (Manish Wadhwa) in an encounter, he gives credit to his best friend and fellow cop, Rohan D’Silva (Pavail Gulati). However, during a felicitation ceremony, tragedy strikes—Rohan is assassinated by an unknown shooter.

Fueled by vengeance, Dev dives deep into the investigation, determined to track down the killer. Just as he pieces together the truth, he suffers a sudden memory loss, plunging his world into chaos. Now, with time running out, can Dev reclaim his lost memories and avenge his best friend’s murder?

Performance & Review

The first half of Deva sets the stage with a slow yet engaging buildup, immersing viewers in the world of crime and betrayal. The second half intensifies as the mystery deepens, keeping audiences hooked. Shahid Kapoor commands the screen with a power-packed performance, effortlessly portraying two distinct shades of Dev—before and after his memory loss. His transformation adds depth to the character, making his journey all the more compelling.

However, the film suffers from weak VFX, which somewhat dampens the action sequences. Pooja Hegde delivers a decent performance as Dev’s love interest, but her character lacks proper development, making her presence feel underutilized.

Despite its flaws, Deva keeps the suspense alive till the very end, ensuring an engaging watch. While the pacing requires patience, the film’s final act is well-executed and rewarding. If you’re a fan of intense thrillers and Shahid Kapoor’s acting prowess, Deva is worth a watch.
