After the iconic ‘Raaz’ series, Bollywood legends Vikram Bhatt and Mahesh Bhatt have teamed up once more to present ‘Bloody Ishq’, a new horror film featuring Avika Gor and Vardhan Puri in lead roles, now available on Disney+ Hotstar.
Plot
Rescued from a lake, Neha (Avika Gor) wakes up in a hospital with no memory of her accident. She learns she is married to Rohan (Vardhan Puri) and resides in a secluded Scottish island castle. Strange and terrifying occurrences, such as bloody palm prints on windows, eerie noises, and shattered glass, begin to surface.
A mysterious woman, Ayesha (Jennifer Piccinato), claiming to be Neha’s best friend, warns that Rohan is deceitful and that the castle is haunted by a ghost that despises Neha. Despite the only access to the castle being by ferry, Ayesha inexplicably comes and goes without it. As the story unfolds, shocking revelations keep the audience on edge.
Review
The film opens with Neha (Avika Gor) waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. Her husband, Rohan (Vardhan Puri), takes her to their isolated castle, creating an eerie atmosphere with just the two of them. Initially intriguing, the depiction soon turns unsettling.
Neha becomes suspicious as household chores appear done without anyone around, and construction workers show up unexpectedly. Each person she encounters tells conflicting stories, leading her to suspect that Rohan is hiding something. Essentially, Neha is being gaslighted by the other characters.
While the movie attempts to create suspense, the overuse of CGI and unnecessary background elements detracts from the overall experience. Despite its potential, ‘Bloody Ishq’ falls short of being truly captivating.
