Episode 4 opens with Joanne nervously gearing up for her first real date with Noah. Amid playful banter about sex toys, Joanne and Morgan discuss tracking down a device called “The Obliterator,” a toy linked to their upcoming podcast guest. This mission interrupts the date, and Noah, being the gentleman, offers to help Joanne retrieve it. Naturally, they end up in a sex shop, exchanging awkward jokes as they sift through various gadgets.

Their date takes a bizarre turn when Mr. Goldberg, a key temple board member, spots Noah with Joanne at the shop. This leads to an awkward encounter, and the couple misses their dinner reservation. Noah salvages the evening by inviting Joanne to his place, where he cooks spaghetti, and they share deeper conversations. Noah admits he doesn’t want Joanne to be just a rebound, while Joanne opens up about her fear of getting hurt. Meanwhile, Sasha’s attempt to spice things up with Esther fails, but they later share a tender moment at home.

The episode ends on a high note, with Noah promising to protect Joanne’s heart. They hook up, and Noah’s temple gets a hefty donation from Mr. Goldberg, likely to keep his embarrassing sighting at the sex shop under wraps.

This episode strikes a balance between humor and emotional depth. The quirky adventure in the sex shop is entertaining, especially with Mr. Goldberg’s awkward involvement, but it’s the heartfelt exchange between Noah and Joanne that stands out. Their chemistry feels authentic, and we finally see Joanne’s vulnerability, which adds layers to her character.

However, four episodes in, the series still lacks a clear conflict. While the romance is sweet, the plot feels a bit too smooth, with no real tension or obstacles threatening their budding relationship. It’s enjoyable but needs more drama to truly stand out in the crowded rom-com genre.
