YouTube Sensation Bhuvan Bam Faces “Nervous Optimism” as Bollywood Debut Kicks Off
Stepping into the spotlight in Karan Johar’s ‘Kuku Ki Kundali’, the BB Ki Vines star opens up about imposter fears, creative involvement, and carrying the aspirations of everyday dreamers

Digital superstar Bhuvan Bam is poised to make a striking entry into mainstream cinema with Kuku Ki Kundali, a romantic comedy produced by Dharma Productions under the supervision of Karan Johar. In this much-anticipated venture, he headlines opposite Wamiqa Gabbi, marking a significant leap from his successful YouTube and OTT career.
Reflecting on the transition, Bhuvan expressed a heartfelt vision: “I want everyone who watches the film to feel, ‘That guy on screen is one of us.’ Where you come from doesn’t limit what you can become—with dedication and effort, anything’s possible.”
Despite the excitement, he admitted his natural tendency to worry when good things happen. “From the outside, it looks amazing: a guy from Malviya Nagar, Delhi, with only a dream of entertaining people, stepping onto the big screen. But being the pessimist I am, I get scared when something good comes my way—wondering if I can truly do it justice.”
Adding another layer to his preparation, Bhuvan revealed that he’s deeply involved in the film’s creative process, working closely with director Sharan Sharma, known for Mr & Mrs Mahi. “The team’s approach gives me confidence,” he said. “Being part of the writing means I get real-time validation that it’s shaping up well.”
These sentiments underscore a compelling narrative: a digital storyteller making the bold jump to cinema, grounded by humility, creative drive, and the hope of inspiring others from similar humble beginnings.
