Young Musicians Fearful in Cutthroat Music Industry, Says Euphoria’s Palash Sen

Singer Calls for Separation Between Film and Music Industries to End Exploitation

Legendary singer Palash Sen, known for his soulful tracks with Euphoria in the 2000s, spoke out about the dark side of the music industry. In a recent interview, Sen acknowledged the prevalence of politics and the struggles faced by young artists.

Sen, acknowledging a flourishing independent music scene, expressed concern for young artists fearful of speaking up against a system that can exploit them. “They cannot speak,” Sen said regarding young artists’ anxieties. “People are scared. Somebody in control can turn around and say ‘you’re talking too much, you won’t get work anymore.'”

Sen pointed to the American music industry as a better model, where film and music industries operate separately. He argued that the Indian film industry should treat musicians with respect, purchasing music rather than dictating its creation.
