Yash to Embark on ‘Ramayana’ Shoot in March 2025 as Ravana
The epic adaptation, featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita, is set for Diwali releases in 2026 and 2027.

In the much-anticipated Bollywood adaptation of the ‘Ramayana’, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, actor Yash is confirmed to portray the formidable antagonist, Ravana. Yash is scheduled to commence filming his portions in March 2025.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the role, Yash stated, “For me, Ravana is the most exciting character to play as an actor, so I really like the shades and the nuances of a particular character. There’s vast scope to present it in a very different way. As an actor, I am very excited.”
The film boasts a stellar cast, with Ranbir Kapoor embodying Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi portraying Sita. Producer Namit Malhotra has announced that the ‘Ramayana’ will be presented in two parts, slated for theatrical releases during Diwali in 2026 and 2027.

In a heartfelt message on Instagram, Malhotra shared, “More than a decade ago, I embarked on a noble quest to bring this epic that has ruled billions of hearts for over 5000 years to the big screen. And today, I am thrilled to see it taking shape beautifully as our teams work tirelessly with only one purpose: to present the most authentic, sacred, and visually stunning adaptation of our history, our truth, and our culture – our ‘RAMAYANA’– for people across the world.”
He further added, “Join us as we fulfill our dream of bringing our greatest epic to life with pride and reverence… Part 1 in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027.”
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor is currently filming Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Love & War’ alongside his wife, Alia Bhatt, and ‘Sanju’ co-star Vicky Kaushal. Reports suggest that upon completing ‘Love & War’, Kapoor will commence work on ‘Ramayana Part 2’.
The ‘Ramayana’ adaptation is poised to be a cinematic spectacle, bringing to life one of India’s most cherished epics with a contemporary touch.
