Warner Bros. Shuffles Release Dates: ‘The Batman Part II’ Delayed to 2027, New Tom Cruise-Alejandro Iñárritu Film Set for 2026

Studio also reschedules ‘Mickey 17’ and ‘Sinners’ to optimize IMAX availability and post-production timelines.

Warner Bros. has announced significant adjustments to its upcoming film release schedule. The highly anticipated sequel, “The Batman Part II,” directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson, has been postponed to October 1, 2027. This marks a shift from its previously scheduled release on October 2, 2026.

Filling the vacated 2026 slot, the studio has slated an untitled film directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu and starring Tom Cruise for an IMAX release on October 2, 2026. Details about the film remain scarce, but the official synopsis describes it as following “the most powerful man in the world” on a mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before a self-inflicted disaster leads to global destruction. The ensemble cast includes Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde, and Riz Ahmed.

Additionally, Warner Bros. has rescheduled two other films. Bong Joon Ho’s “Mickey 17,” featuring Robert Pattinson, will now premiere on March 7, 2025, advancing from its original spring 2024 release. This change allows for an extended IMAX run. Meanwhile, Ryan Coogler’s horror film “Sinners,” starring Michael B. Jordan as twin brothers confronting a formidable evil, has been moved to April 18, 2025, to accommodate post-production needs, particularly challenges associated with its film-based shooting format.

These strategic scheduling decisions reflect Warner Bros.’ efforts to optimize theatrical releases and production timelines for its diverse slate of upcoming films.
