Warner Bros. Discovery Renews Hit Comedy Series ‘Bookie’ for a Second Season on Max Streaming Platform

Warner Bros. Discovery-backed streaming service Max has officially greenlit a second season of the popular American comedy series ‘Bookie.’ The announcement comes just two weeks after the successful conclusion of the show’s debut season, created by the dynamic duo Chuck Lorre and Nick Bakay.

Premiering on November 30, 2023, and concluding its first-season run on December 21, 2023, ‘Bookie’ is based on the comedic genius of Sebastian Maniscalco. The series follows the gripping tale of a seasoned bookie navigating the challenges brought about by the legalization of sports gambling, dealing with increasingly unpredictable clients, all set against the backdrop of the fast-paced lifestyle in Los Angeles.

Amy Gravitt, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming and Head of HBO & Max Comedy Series, expressed her excitement, stating, “The collaboration between Chuck and Sebastian has proven to be a winning hand, and we’re looking forward to continuing the story with this incredibly talented cast and crew.”

Channing Dungey, Chairman of Warner Bros. Television Group, applauded the success of ‘Bookie,’ saying, “There’s no doubt that Chuck and Nick’s Bookie won big this season as they took us on a hilarious ride into the underbelly of illegal sports gambling.” Dungey looks forward to more antics in Season 2 and extends congratulations to the entire cast and crew, expressing gratitude to the partners at Max.

Executive producers Chuck Lorre and Nick Bakay, along with Sebastian Maniscalco, Judi Marmel, and Andy Tennant, who directed multiple episodes, contributed to the show’s success. The talented cast includes Sebastian Maniscalco, Omar Dorsey, Andrea Anders, Vanessa Ferlito, Jorge Garcia, Maxim Swinton, and Charlie Sheen.
