Wamiqa Gabbi’s Joke to Shah Rukh Khan Backfires, Leaves Superstar Speechless

During a light-hearted exchange on the set of Baby John, actress Wamiqa Gabbi’s jest about self-harm left Shah Rukh Khan and the crew momentarily stunned.

n a recent interview, actress Wamiqa Gabbi recounted an awkward encounter with Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan that took place during the muhurat (inaugural ceremony) of director Atlee’s upcoming film, Baby John. Gabbi, who is currently promoting her new film Bhool Chuk Maaf alongside Rajkummar Rao, shared the anecdote that left the superstar and the crew momentarily speechless.

Gabbi recalled that during the event, she and her brother, Hardik, were discussing what she might say if Shah Rukh Khan approached her. In a joking manner, Hardik suggested she “cut her wrist” to grab the actor’s attention. Later, when Khan did come over to greet her, Gabbi, attempting to share the earlier jest, said, “It was so nice meeting you, sir. My brother was suggesting I cut my wrist, but obviously, I won’t do that.” The comment, intended as humor, was met with silence, and Khan left without responding.

Reflecting on the incident, Gabbi admitted feeling embarrassed by the unintended impact of her joke. “I honestly thought SRK would get the humour, but he didn’t,” she said.

Bhool Chuk Maaf, Gabbi’s latest film, is set to release in theatres on May 23, 2025, following a delay due to a legal dispute over its release strategy.
