Vinnie Jones Reveals Why He Turned Down Deadpool 3 Role Amidst Marvel Cameo Frenzy

The anticipation for Deadpool 3 is skyrocketing with its plethora of teased cameos, transforming the movie into a Marvel character extravaganza. However, it seems not everyone is eager to jump on board. In a recent interview, Vinnie Jones, known for his role as Juggernaut in X-Men: The Last Stand, disclosed that he declined a role in the highly anticipated sequel.

Speaking to Yahoo UK, Jones revealed that director Shawn Levy approached him for a part in the film but he declined, citing his previous experience with superhero movies. “Funnily enough, I just got asked to do Deadpool, the new one now, and I spoke to the director and I just said it’s such a drama putting that suit on mentally and physically,” he explained. “I mean, it had its mental toll as well because you’re in it and you can’t do anything all day, you can only drink through a straw. So we couldn’t strike the deal for Deadpool.”

Officially titled Deadpool & Wolverine, the third installment welcomes back Ryan Reynolds as the irreverent Merc with the Mouth, Wade Wilson. The storyline sees Deadpool thrust into the multiverse by the TVA, teaming up with Wolverine to combat a mutual adversary, marking Deadpool’s entry into the MCU.

Juggernaut, also known as Cain Marko, made his debut in X-Men #12 in 1965, created by Stan Lee. Portrayed by Jones in the 2006 film, Juggernaut is a formidable force, nearly impervious to harm. Jones, recalling his experience, mentioned the physical toll of wearing the cumbersome Juggernaut suit, which likely influenced his decision.

Jones did consider appearing in Deadpool 3 but cited budget constraints as a hindrance. “Deadpool’s my favorite movie of all f***ing time more or less,” said The Gentlemen star. “I really wanted to do it, but they didn’t have the budget to put me in the suit.” Although the role Juggernaut would have played remains uncertain, given his history, it’s safe to assume he would have posed a significant challenge for Wade Wilson.
