Vince McMahon Criticizes Upcoming Netflix Docuseries for Misrepresentation
Former WWE Chairman Claims “Mr. McMahon” Blurs Fiction and Reality, Urges Viewers to Keep an Open Mind

Vince McMahon, former chairman of WWE, is voicing his displeasure ahead of the release of Netflix’s highly anticipated docuseries *Mr. McMahon*. Taking to his official X account (formerly Twitter), McMahon expressed his concerns about the portrayal of his life and career in the six-part series, set to release on September 25.
“I don’t regret participating in this Netflix documentary,” McMahon stated. “The producers had a chance to tell an objective story about my life and the incredible business I built, which had its fair share of excitement, drama, fun, and controversy. Sadly, based on an early cut I’ve seen, the series falls short. It predictably conflates the ‘Mr. McMahon’ character with the real me, Vince, which is evident from the title and promotional material alone.”
McMahon claims that the series omits key aspects of his story, leaving viewers with a distorted and incomplete picture. “A lot has been misrepresented or left out entirely, creating intentional confusion,” he continued. “The producers relied on out-of-context footage, dated soundbites, and editing tricks to support a deceptive narrative. They even use a lawsuit from an affair I ended to falsely link me to the ‘Mr. McMahon’ persona. I encourage viewers to approach the series with an open mind and remember that there are two sides to every story.”
The *Mr. McMahon* docuseries will dive into McMahon’s early years, his takeover of the then-World Wrestling Federation (WWF) from his father, and his eventual exit from WWE amid allegations of sexual abuse and trafficking by a former employee.
The series also features interviews with McMahon and iconic WWE stars such as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, and Paul “Triple H” Levesque.
The documentary is directed and produced by Chris Smith, with Bill Simmons and Zara Duffy serving as executive producers for Library Films in collaboration with Ringer Films.
