Vicky Kaushal Transforms into Sam Manekshaw for His Upcoming Film ‘Sam Bahadur’

Vicky Kaushal is gearing up for his highly-anticipated role as the charismatic war hero Sam Manekshaw in the upcoming historical drama “Sam Bahadur.” The teaser for this much-awaited film was revealed by the actor and producers on Tuesday. Adding to the star-studded cast, Fatima Sana Shaikh portrays the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, while Sanya Malhotra takes on the role of Sam’s wife, Silloo.

In the movie, Vicky, who previously collaborated with director Meghna Gulzar on the spy thriller “Raazi,” fully embraces the character of Sam Manekshaw, complete with his iconic handlebar mustache. Vicky shared a new poster on Instagram with the caption, “This is the story of a man who devoted his life to the Indian Army and the nation.” The trailer is set to be released on 1st December 2023 when “Sam Bahadur” will hit theaters.

The poster features Vicky strolling alongside his soldiers, all dressed in Army attire, forming an impressive line-up. The newly released trailer expands upon the earlier teaser, showcasing Vicky Kaushal’s remarkable portrayal of India’s first Field Marshal. He is seen standing his ground, offering stern advice to fellow soldiers, and engaging with well-known figures of the time, including Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film is set in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

“Sam Bahadur” draws inspiration from the life of Sam Manekshaw, the first Field Marshal of India, who dedicated over forty years of his life to the Indian Army, serving in five wars. His leadership during the 1971 Indo-Pak war led to the creation of Bangladesh, and he became the first officer in the Indian Army to attain the rank of Field Marshal. The film also features notable actors such as Neeraj Kabi, Edward Sonnenblick, Richard Bhakti Klein, Saqib Ayub, and Krishna Kant Singh Bundela.
