Actor Discusses the Emotional and Physical Demands of His Role in the Period Drama and Gives an Update on the Release Date

Vicky Kaushal is gearing up for the release of his comedy film “Bad Newz,” but he’s also got another highly anticipated project on the horizon: the period drama “Chhaava.” Collaborating with director Laxman Utekar and actress Rashmika Mandanna, Vicky recently shared insights into the significance and challenges of this special film.
In an interview with Film Companion, Vicky described “Chhaava” as a “very special” project, emphasizing the intense physical and emotional demands it placed on him. He noted, “It’s probably the film that’s taken the most out of me physically, emotionally. It was that kind of potent film in its drama, emotions, and everything.”
The film, based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, represents a new venture for Vicky. He expressed his enthusiasm for exploring both the historical and “Shakespearean drama” aspects of the story, eagerly anticipating how it will resonate with audiences.
When asked about the release date, Vicky admitted that there was no confirmed date yet. While the shooting has wrapped up, post-production, including AR Rahman’s composition of the score and music and extensive visual effects work, is still in progress. Vicky mentioned that a release date would be set once the post-production timeline becomes clearer.
In the meantime, Vicky is busy promoting Anand Tiwari’s “Bad Newz,” co-starring Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk, which is scheduled for release on July 19, 2024. Additionally, he is involved in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic “Love & War,” where he will reunite with Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.
