Vedaa Gets U/A Certificate After Censor Board Cuts Over 9 Minutes

Filmmakers Express Disappointment Over ‘Unusual Delay’ in Certification Process

John Abraham and Sharvari’s upcoming action thriller, Vedaa, has finally secured a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), just days before its scheduled release on Independence Day. However, the film has undergone significant cuts, with over nine minutes of footage removed by the Revising Committee.

According to reports, the CBFC insisted on several modifications, including a one-minute and sixteen-second disclaimer with a voiceover at the beginning of the film. Additionally, a hanging sequence lasting two minutes and sixteen seconds was deleted, and a court violence sequence was reduced by thirty percent. Certain dialogues deemed offensive were also modified.

The filmmakers have expressed their frustration over the “unusual delay” in obtaining the certificate. In a statement, they revealed that despite applying for certification well in advance, the film faced unexpected hurdles in the review process.

Vedaa, also starring Tamannaah Bhatia and Abhishek Bannerjee, is set to hit theaters on August 15.
