Bollywood heartthrob Varun Dhawan is living a dream! The actor has officially joined the cast of the iconic war film sequel, Border 2. Dhawan will be sharing screen space with his childhood hero, Sunny Deol, in the highly anticipated movie.

The announcement came via social media on Friday, with the team, including Deol, sharing a video message featuring Dhawan reciting a powerful dialogue. The video also revealed the film’s release date – January 23, 2026. Deol welcomed Dhawan to the “Border 2 Battalion” with a warm message on social media.

The video itself is a stirring tribute to the original film. Set against the backdrop of Sonu Nigam’s iconic song “Sandese Aate Hai” from the first Border, Dhawan delivers a charged line, “Dushman ki har goli se Jai Hind bolke takrata hun… Jab dharti maa bulati hai sab chod ke aata hun… Hindustan ka fauji hun main” (With every enemy bullet, I roar Jai Hind. When mother earth calls, I leave everything behind… I am a soldier of India).

Dhawan’s excitement about the project was palpable. He shared the video on his own Instagram account, expressing how much this film meant to him personally. “I was just a kid in class four when I saw Border at the Chandan cinema,” he wrote. “It made such a big impact. I still remember the sense of national pride we all felt in the hall.”

Dhawan went on to express his admiration for the armed forces and his lifelong respect for their sacrifices. He called J.P. Dutta’s original film a personal favorite and stated, “To play a part in Border 2 produced by JP sir and Bhushan Kumar is a very, very special moment in my career. And I get to work with Sunny Paaji my hero, makes it all the more special.”

With Dhawan’s casting and the release date confirmed, the anticipation for Border 2 has certainly reached a fever pitch.
