Up, Up and Away! Superman Filming Takes Flight in Cleveland

Director James Gunn Thanks City as Production Moves on to Next Location

James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios, shared a heartwarming message on social media thanking the city of Cleveland for its enthusiastic support during a six-week filming stint for the upcoming Superman movie.

Gunn expressed his gratitude to the city, highlighting the warm welcome the production received. He fondly recalled how Cleveland residents would stop him on the street to express their excitement about the filming. In a separate post, Gunn praised the film’s background actors, calling them “wonderful” and “fun,” and crediting their positive energy as a reminder of why he loves filmmaking.

While thanking Cleveland, Gunn also clarified for fans that filming is not yet complete. Production has simply wrapped up in Cleveland and will move to a new location for the remaining few weeks of shooting.

The new Superman film stars David Corenswet as the Man of Steel and is slated for release on July 11, 2025. The cast also includes Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, María Gabriela de Faría, along with a talented supporting ensemble.
