Unleashing Motherhood’s Wild Side: Nightbitch Starring Amy Adams Set for December Release
Amy Adams ventures into dark comedy horror territory in Nightbitch, a tale of suburban motherhood with a twist.

Searchlight Pictures revealed plans for the theatrical release of Nightbitch, a darkly comedic horror film featuring Amy Adams in the lead role. Scheduled to hit theaters on December 6, the movie promises a unique blend of humor and horror.
Based on Rachel Yoder’s acclaimed debut novel, Nightbitch follows the journey of a woman navigating the challenges of suburban motherhood. Written and directed by Marielle Heller, known for her work on “Can You Ever Forgive Me?”, the film delves into the surreal as the protagonist begins to suspect she’s undergoing a bizarre transformation into a canine.
The project, a collaboration between Bond Group and Annapurna, gained momentum with the acquisition of film rights to Yoder’s book. Searchlight Pictures joined the venture in May 2022, securing worldwide distribution rights in a lucrative deal exceeding $25 million.
Amy Adams, alongside Stacy O’Neil, spearheads production through their Bond Group banner. Marielle Heller joins as a producer for Defiant By Nature, along with Anne Carey from Archer Gray, Christina Oh, and Sue Naegle. Executives from Annapurna, including Megan Ellison and Sammy Scher, as well as Havilah Brewster and Adam Paulsen, complete the production team.
Searchlight Pictures, known for its diverse range of releases, continues to expand its repertoire. Following the success of recent titles like “Poor Things” and “All of Us Strangers,” the studio is gearing up for the release of “The Greatest Hits” and “Kinds of Kindness,” featuring Emma Stone, in the coming months. With Nightbitch, audiences can anticipate a fresh take on motherhood and the supernatural, promising a thrilling cinematic experience.
