Tom Holland Joins Christopher Nolan’s New Film Without Knowing a Thing

The Spider-Man star reveals he instantly accepted the role, calling it the “phone call of a lifetime.”

Tom Holland recently shared on Good Morning America that he agreed to star in Christopher Nolan’s next movie without knowing anything about the project. Holland described the experience as a no-brainer, revealing how he accepted the offer on the spot simply because it came from Nolan.

“All I can say is that I’m incredibly excited,” Holland said during the interview. “It’s an honor, but honestly, that’s all I know about it right now.”

When asked if Nolan is the kind of director he’d say yes to without hesitation, Holland didn’t mince words: “100%, without a shadow of a doubt.”

The actor likened the moment to receiving the call about playing Spider-Man a decade ago. “It felt just as surreal,” he added. “It was the kind of phone call you dream about. I’m super proud and really, really excited.”

According to Variety, Holland will headline the untitled project alongside Matt Damon. This marks Nolan’s highly anticipated follow-up to Oppenheimer. The film is set to begin production in early 2025 and will hit theaters on July 17, 2026, under Universal Pictures.

Next year promises to be monumental for Holland, as he also confirmed that filming for his fourth Spider-Man movie will begin in summer 2025. With both a new Nolan film and Spider-Man on his plate, 2025 is shaping up to be the busiest year of his career.

Holland’s last film appearance was in 2022’s Uncharted. Since then, he took on television with the Apple TV+ series The Crowded Room in 2023 and made his stage debut in the West End production of Romeo & Juliet earlier this year.
