Thrills and Spills: A Bollywood Tale of Risk and Redemption in ‘Crakk: Jeetega Toh Jiyegaa’

Bollywood movies often indulge in mindless action sequences that lack depth, and “Crakk: Jeetega Toh Jiyegaa” does little to break away from this trend.
The film opens with Siddharth Dixit, a resident of a Mumbai slum better known as Siddhu (played by Vidyut Jammwal), engaging in daring stunts on a moving local train. His friends affectionately call him “Crack” due to his fearless nature. However, whether this nickname is meant to evoke admiration for his skill or concern for his recklessness remains unclear. The storyline primarily revolves around Siddhu’s penchant for risky endeavors and extreme sports.
We are given insight into Siddhu’s background through flashbacks, where we learn that his parents disapprove of his following in the footsteps of his deceased older brother Nihal (played by Ankit Mohan), who perished in Maidaan, an underground survival sports tournament. Despite their concerns, Siddhu remains undeterred, documenting his exploits and frequently attracting the attention of law enforcement. Eventually, he manages to make his way to Maidaan and is subsequently transported to a sports venue in Poland.
In Maidaan, Siddhu faces formidable opponents from various countries, including the showrunner and reigning champion, Dev (portrayed by Arjun Rampal). Initially motivated solely by a desire to win the tournament, Siddhu’s focus shifts as he begins to suspect foul play in his brother’s demise. Along his journey, he encounters Alia (played by Nora Fatehi), a Maidaan influencer who initially believes herself to be beyond his reach but quickly falls for his charm.
The narrative unfolds as the filmmaker sees fit, blending elements of suspense, action, and romance to weave a tale of risk and redemption in the competitive world of extreme sports.
