The Fifteenth Doctor Welcomes New Companions for Season Two Voyage
Joining the TARDIS crew is Varada Sethu, fresh from the stars of Star Wars, in the upcoming Doctor Who season.

In an exciting twist for Doctor Who fans, the upcoming season will see the iconic Time Lord, played by Ncuti Gatwa, accompanied by not one, but two companions. Varada Sethu, known for her role in the Disney+ Star Wars series Andor, steps aboard the TARDIS alongside Gatwa and Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday.
Expressing her excitement, Sethu shares, “I feel like the luckiest person in the world. It is such an honor to be a part of the Whoniverse, and I’m so grateful to the whole Doctor Who family for welcoming me with open arms and making me feel so at home. I couldn’t ask for a better team than Ncuti and Millie to be on this adventure with, this is SO much fun!”
Showrunner Russell T Davies, known for his work on various BBC productions, including Doctor Who, expresses his delight at having Sethu on board. “I first worked with Varada on a BBC production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and it’s a joy to welcome her on board the TARDIS. Right now in the studio, shooting for 2025, we’ve got Ncuti, Millie, and Varada fighting side by side – we need all three, because the stakes are higher than ever!”
Sethu, acclaimed for her role as Cinta Kaz in Andor, brings a wealth of talent to the Doctor Who ensemble. Her diverse credits also include appearances in Jurassic World Dominion, Annika, and Strike Back.
Production for the second season of Doctor Who is currently underway, with a scheduled debut in 2025 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK, and Disney+ in the U.S. and other territories. Today, photos from a table read featuring Sethu, Gatwa, and Gibson were released, further fueling anticipation among fans.
Moreover, Doctor Who season one will see a groundbreaking simultaneous premiere on BBC iPlayer and Disney+. UK audiences can catch the first two episodes on BBC iPlayer at midnight on May 11, followed by a broadcast on BBC One later that day. Subsequent episodes will follow a similar release pattern. For international viewers, the show will stream on Disney+ starting May 10 at 7 pm ET, marking a simultaneous global launch.
Doctor Who is a co-production between Bad Wolf, BBC Studios, and Disney Branded Television, with Russell T Davies serving as showrunner, executive producer, and writer. Additional executive producers include Phil Collinson, Joel Collins, Julie Gardner, and Jane Tranter.
