Thangalaan: Vikram’s Epic Tale Set in the 19th-Century Mining Era to Hit Theaters in April

Renowned filmmaker Pa Ranjith’s upcoming film, Thangalaan, is set to transport audiences back to the early 19th-century mining milieu. Starring a stellar cast including Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and Hollywood actor Daniel Caltagirone alongside Vikram in the lead role, the much-anticipated movie is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release in April of this year.

In a recent reveal by Studio Green on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), brand-new posters featuring Vikram were showcased. The striking visuals depicted Vikram in a loincloth, standing in the midst of a desert, gripping a stick, and gazing resolutely forward. Accompanying the images was a caption that hinted at the film’s intense narrative: “History awaits to be written in blood and gold. #ThangalaanFromApril2024 #HappyPongal #HappyMakarSankranti.” Notably, the film was initially slated to hit screens on January 26.

Thangalaan, produced by K E Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green, promises a gripping storyline set against the backdrop of 19th-century mining. The ensemble cast, including Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and Daniel Caltagirone, is expected to deliver compelling performances.

The film’s musical score is entrusted to the talented GV Prakash, and audiences can anticipate releases in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Pa Ranjith, celebrated for blockbusters like Madras, Kabali, Kaala, and Sarpatta Parambarai, continues to showcase his prowess in storytelling and filmmaking.

Notably, this revelation comes amid Vikram’s plans for his 62nd full film, with filmmaker SU Arun Kumar at the helm. Backed by HR Pictures, owned by Riya Shibu (known for producing movies like Mumbaikar and Thugs), the project is set to feature GV Prakash Kumar as the music composer, adding another layer of anticipation for fans of the acclaimed actor.
