Thama Unveiled: Bollywood’s Next Vampire Romance Set to Haunt Diwali
Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna headline Maddock Films’ supernatural love story, with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal adding spine-chilling twists.

Maddock Films has finally lifted the curtain on its ambitious new project, Thama—a genre-blending horror-comedy rooted in romance and supernatural thrills. The teaser, titled “The World of Thama”, released on August 19, offers a hauntingly beautiful glimpse into a vampire love story set to arrive this Diwali.
The teaser opens with an emotional exchange: Ayushmann Khurrana’s character Alok asks Rashmika Mandanna’s Tadaka if she could survive a hundred years without him. Her reply—“Not even for a single moment”—sets the stage for an epic romance laced with danger. The visuals then spiral into eerie supernatural encounters, shadowy woods, and monstrous beings, before unveiling Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Yakshasan, a terrifying vampire lord.
Adding to the drama, Malaika Arora makes a striking appearance in a dance number, while Paresh Rawal plays Ram Bajaj Goyal, a quirky nod to his iconic comic role from Andaz Apna Apna.

A Mythic, Romantic Horror
The title Thama is inspired by Ashwatthama from the Mahabharata, symbolizing immortality and vengeance. The film reportedly explores two timelines—one modern and one ancient—mixing folklore, mythology, and romance.
Expanding the Maddock Universe
Following Stree, Bhediya, Munjya, and Stree 2, this marks the fifth film in the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe. Unlike its predecessors, Thama leans heavily into romance while retaining spooky thrills and comedic undertones. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, with a screenplay by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Falara, and music by Sachin–Jigar, the film is produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik.
Release & Buzz
Set to release worldwide on October 17, 2025, Thama has already set the internet abuzz. Fans praised the teaser’s unique mix of horror, romance, and mythology, calling it “epic” and “refreshingly different.” However, some sharp-eyed viewers noted similarities between certain scenes and the Korean drama My Demon, sparking debates online about originality.
In Summary
With a mix of myth, mystery, and immortal love, Thama promises to be Maddock Films’ boldest experiment yet. A supernatural romance at its core, the film is all set to cast a haunting spell on audiences this Diwali.
