Teresa Palmer Joins Amazon’s God of War Series as Norse Goddess Sif
The Prime Video adaptation continues to build its epic cast as Ryan Hurst steps in as Kratos and Ronald D. Moore reshapes the ambitious fantasy series.

Amazon Prime Video’s much-awaited live-action adaptation of the blockbuster video game franchise God of War has added another major name to its cast. Australian actor Teresa Palmer has officially boarded the series and will portray Sif, a prominent figure from Norse mythology and the wife of Thor in the games. Her casting adds further depth to the expanding ensemble, following the recent confirmation that Ryan Hurst will headline the series as Kratos, the legendary Spartan warrior turned god-slayer. Interestingly, Hurst previously lent his voice to Thor in God of War: Ragnarök, making his transition into the live-action universe an exciting full-circle moment for longtime fans.
The series is expected to closely follow the storyline of the modern God of War games, centering on Kratos and his young son Atreus as they embark on an emotional and dangerous journey to scatter the ashes of Kratos’ late wife, Faye. Along the way, their relationship evolves as Kratos struggles to become a more compassionate father while Atreus searches for his own identity and moral compass.
The show was first greenlit in 2022 but has seen creative shifts behind the scenes. Original showrunner Rafe Judkins exited the project in late 2024, after which veteran television creator Ronald D. Moore stepped in as the new showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Frederick E.O. Toye is attached to direct the opening episodes, setting the visual tone for the high-fantasy series.
Teresa Palmer brings strong genre credentials to the project. She is widely recognized for her film work in titles such as Hacksaw Ridge, Warm Bodies, The Fall Guy, I Am Number Four, and Knight of Cups. On the television front, she has earned praise for performances in A Discovery of Witches, The Clearing, and Mix Tape, and will next appear in the Australian series The Family Next Door. With Palmer stepping into the role of Sif, fans can expect a richer portrayal of the Aesir gods and deeper exploration of the Norse realm conflicts that define the franchise’s later chapters.
The series is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions, with several key figures from the gaming and television worlds attached as executive producers. While an official release date has not yet been announced, production momentum continues to build, and more casting announcements are expected in the coming months as the show moves closer to filming.
