Tamannah Bhatia and Bhumi Pednekar talk about the PAY GAP in the Film Industry

Tamannah Bhatia and Bhumi Pednekar discussed their opinions on the disparity in compensation in the Indian film business. Along with the actors’ coworkers Alaya F, Rakul Preet Singh, and Huma Qureshi, a roundtable discussion was held.

The panel discussed the topic of female performers on high-budget films being paid a relatively small portion of their male co-stars’ salaries. The performers all agreed that they were no longer open to accepting such offers and did not want to be perceived as “replaceable.”

The actor said during the roundtable conversation with Bollywood Hungama, “Does that make planning for next year easier? No, we will talk about it. Because that is the situation’s reality.” She said that in the past, since they had less options, female performers had to do this to further their careers, but that things were changing now. Coming from a place of ambition rather than fear caused things to be different.
