Taapsee Pannu Talks Unconventional Bridal Look and Private Wedding Details

Actress reveals her traditional yet unique attire choices and the personal touch behind her wedding ensemble

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Taapsee Pannu, the celebrated actress and newlywed, delved into her unconventional bridal attire and the intimate details of her private wedding ceremony with badminton player Mathias Boe. Departing from the traditional lehenga, Pannu opted for a distinctive Punjabi bridal look, embracing a salwar kameez for her special day.

Reflecting on her choice, Pannu shared, “I’ve grown up witnessing Sikh, Gurudwara weddings, so the vintage charm of a proper red salwar kameez with kinari on the border was deeply ingrained in me. That’s how I envision a bride. Pastel-hued lehengas just didn’t resonate with the wedding vibe I wanted to embody.”

When asked about her decision to eschew renowned designers for her wedding ensemble, Pannu explained, “I wanted to maintain utmost privacy, and involving major designers would risk the news being leaked. Therefore, I entrusted my college friend, Mani Bhatia, to design all my outfits, keeping the affair intimate and personal. I forwent the lehenga entirely to ensure I could dance freely at all the functions.”

Detailing her attire for each ceremony, Pannu shared, “For the haldi, I embraced a vintage Punjabi style with a lungi and kurta, reminiscent of DDLJ, paired with floral accessories. At the sangeet, I opted for bell-bottom styled pants adorned with bling, complemented by diamond solitaires as the sole accessory. For the wedding, I adorned a traditional Punjabi saggi phull, accompanied by heirloom jewelry passed down from my grandmother. My chooda and kaleere remained elegantly understated.”

Taapsee Pannu’s wedding attire epitomized a blend of tradition, personal sentiment, and a touch of uniqueness, reflecting her individuality and reverence for her cultural heritage.
