Taapsee Pannu Reflects on the Surprising Reality Behind Her Casting in Rajkumar Hirani’s “Dunki”

In the world of Bollywood, where rumors often swirl, Taapsee Pannu, the actress portraying Manu in Rajkumar Hirani’s “Dunki,” recently revealed that her journey with the film began with an unexpected twist—an initially perceived rumor that eventually proved to be true. When questioned about the initial call she received for “Dunki” and her initial skepticism, Taapsee shared her amusing experience.
“Actually, it’s a bit funny for me too because the first call for ‘Dunki’ was indeed from Raju Sir, but before that, there were already rumors circulating in many places that I was being considered for this film and I am doing it. Just like any other rumor, I thought, ‘This can’t possibly be true.’ It was the first time such a rumor had come up about me. I thought, ‘Let me be happy hearing this.’ But then, I got a call from Sir,” Taapsee explained.
She continued, “Before Sir called, there were rumors suggesting that I was being considered for the movie. Similar to the earlier rumor, I thought this couldn’t be true. So, I was just happy that there was a positive rumor about me for the first time.” Taapsee added, “But then I got a call from Sir. He first said, ‘Well, the media has already reported it, so I thought I might as well call and tell you.'”
Recalling the moment she received the call, Taapsee mentioned that she was in the midst of shooting a South Indian movie. Rajkumar Hirani assured her that he would share the full story upon her return. Taapsee expressed, “It was the only rumor that was good and turned out to be true.”
In retrospect, Taapsee Pannu shared her amusement at the twist of events, emphasizing the unique journey that led to her involvement in “Dunki.”
