Stree Universe to Expand with Animated Prelude Before Stree 3

Shraddha Kapoor & Maddock Films tease a full-length animated origin story segment to hit theatres ahead of Stree 3, linking past and future in the horror-comedy multiverse.

The ever-growing Stree franchise is now set to branch out in an unexpected direction. At the trailer launch event for Thamma—the next installment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe—Shraddha Kapoor revealed that her iconic Stree character will return in an animated prelude, designed to lead directly into Stree 3.

This animated film will explore Stree’s mysterious backstory, giving fans long-awaited answers about the supernatural legend at the heart of the series. It will release in theatres ahead of Stree 3 and wrap up with an exclusive scene from the upcoming third installment, teasing what’s to come.

Producer Dinesh Vijan confirmed that the animated prelude is planned to hit screens around six months before Stree 3. He added that its climax will play a crucial role in setting up the events of the live-action sequel, ensuring a smooth connection between past and future storylines.

As the flagship of Maddock’s horror-comedy universe, Stree continues to expand its mythology. Thamma is the next film slated for a Diwali 2025 release, with Shakti Shalini, Bhediya 2, Chamunda, and Mahamunjya also in the pipeline before the much-anticipated Stree 3, officially scheduled for August 13, 2027. The universe is expected to culminate in a two-part saga titled Mahayudh.

With the rising popularity of animation in India following blockbuster successes like Mahavatar Narsimha and Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, this animated prelude marks an exciting new chapter for Stree and a bold experiment for Indian cinema.
