SRK’s Hilarious First Reaction to Aryan Khan’s Bold Netflix Debut

From fearing CCTV leaks to falling in love with the tone—Shah Rukh Khan gets emotional and witty at Aryan’s directorial premiere of The Ba****ds of Bollywood

At a glittering event in Mumbai, Shah Rukh Khan proudly introduced his son Aryan Khan’s debut project, The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, which marks Aryan’s entry as a writer, director, and showrunner. The evening was filled with equal parts laughter, nostalgia, and pride as SRK recounted his first reaction to the concept of the show.

“When Aryan told me he was making a show about Bollywood that’s raw, edgy, and a little mad,” SRK said with a smile, “for a moment, I thought he was going to upload Mannat’s CCTV footage on YouTube!” His playful quip had the audience in splits, perfectly breaking the ice.

Beneath the humor, however, the superstar expressed heartfelt admiration. He admitted it took him a little while to grasp the unconventional tone of the show, but once he did, he was completely hooked. “I was really, really happy about it—not just the show, but the way the entire cast has brought their characters to life,” he added warmly.

The preview of Aryan’s series, unveiled earlier this week, instantly created a stir. Gritty, sharp, and satirical, it flips the glossy image of Bollywood on its head, replacing Shah Rukh’s famous “pyaar” with Aryan’s darker, more hard-hitting “vaar.” The teaser has already sparked conversations across the industry.

Aryan, visibly nervous yet humble, delivered his first public speech at the event—complete with a backup copy taped to his back in case he faltered. While some critics trolled him online, many fans rushed to his defense, praising his sincerity and courage.

The evening also featured SRK’s trademark wit, as he cracked jokes about his recent shoulder surgery—saying he could still lift his National Award with one hand—and even took a light-hearted dig at his own film Zero’s box office failure. The father-son bond on display was one of the highlights of the launch.

The show itself boasts a stellar cast including Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Vijayant Kohli, and Gautami Kapoor, along with surprise cameos from top Bollywood stars. Backed by Gauri Khan under Red Chillies Entertainment and co-created with Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan, the series has generated huge buzz.

The Ba**ds of Bollywood* is set to premiere on Netflix on September 18, 2025, and promises a bold, edgy narrative unlike anything the industry has seen before.
