‘Squid Game’ Season 2 Cast Revealed: Excitement Builds as Production Begins on Highly Anticipated Netflix Series

The 2021 South Korean survival drama television series, ‘Squid Game’ on Netflix, which made the viewers go gaga and flooded social media with reviews and memes, has been renewed for another season.

The already excited fans just got another reason to top that excitement as eight new actors were named to complete the cast for the upcoming season 2.

At Netflix’s Tudum fan event held earlier in June, four newcomers, including Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun, were announced.

The last eight additions are Park Gyu-young, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, and Won Ji-an, who, along with the aforementioned four will be working with season 1 returnees Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byun-hun, Hwang Jun-ho, and Gong Yoo.

The Hollywood Reporter mentioned that this week, the entire cast of season 2 came together for their first table read, and the production is scheduled to start later this year. However, specifics on the roles of the new cast members are not yet revealed.

The creator, writer, director, and executive producer of the series, Hwang Dong-hyuk, will continue in his roles for the new season.

‘Squid Game’ debuted on Netflix on September 17, 2021, and marks to be Netflix’s biggest series of all time, both in hours watched and the streamer’s recently updated view metric.

The series received 14 Emmy nominations for Season 1 and bagged six awards, including best directing for a drama series for Hwang. Lee Jung-jae created history by being the first Asian actor ever to receive an Emmy for Best Actor in a Drama for his performance in the series.
Lee Jung-jae also became the first to win the drama award for a non-English speaking role.
