The Kannada superstar reprises his role in Nelson Dilipkumar’s sequel alongside Rajinikanth, expressing surprise at his character’s popularity and hopes to collaborate with Balakrishna.

Kannada actor Shivarajkumar has officially announced his return as Narasimha in the upcoming Tamil action-comedy sequel, Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. Speaking at a press event in Hyderabad for his forthcoming film 45, Shivarajkumar revealed that while filming has commenced, he has yet to join the shoot.

Reflecting on the unexpected acclaim his cameo received in the original Jailer, Shivarajkumar humorously remarked, “I only did Jailer because of Rajini sir. He is like a father figure to me, and I told Nelson that I don’t even need the story to be a part of the film. I was willing to appear for even a passing scene in Rajini sir’s film. Even now, I don’t understand why my character from Jailer received that much appreciation. My wife asks me, ‘What did you do in Jailer? You lit a cigar and pushed a tissue box.’ I think I have to be grateful to the cinematographer for showing me in good light and to Anirudh for the elevating background music.”

When questioned about the possibility of sharing screen space with Telugu star Nandamuri Balakrishna in Jailer 2, Shivarajkumar responded, “I don’t know if he is acting in the film. But, it will be nice if he comes on board. I did Gauthamiputra Satakarni. Personally, we are very good friends.”
Jailer 2 is produced by Sun Pictures and features Rajinikanth reprising his role as “Tiger” Muthuvel Pandian. The film also stars S. J. Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, and Mirnaa Menon, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Principal photography began in March 2025 in Chennai, with subsequent schedules in Kerala.
Fans eagerly await the sequel, anticipating the return of beloved characters and the introduction of new faces in this star-studded ensemble.
