Shah Rukh Khan Marks His 58th Birthday with the Debut of Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki’ Teaser

Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan celebrated his 58th birthday in style as he unveiled the much-anticipated teaser of Rajkumar Hirani’s upcoming film, ‘Dunki,’ in the morning hours. The star-studded cast of the film, including Vicky Kaushal, Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, and others, is set in a quaint Punjabi town, each nursing dreams of making it to London. While the teaser received a mixed response, SRK is steadfastly backing the project.

During a recent event that featured an #AskSRK session, the charismatic actor was quizzed about the possibility of a sequel to his hit film ‘Jawan.’ Shah Rukh Khan didn’t shy away from acknowledging the film’s success and hinted at a sequel, stating that he could make ‘Jawan 2’ at any moment. However, he candidly admitted that ‘Dunki’ is more entertaining than his previous two releases, ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan.’

Responding to a question about the potential sequel, Shah Rukh Khan said, “It’s quite easy for me to create ‘Jawan 2.’ I’ll just give Atlee a call, and we’ll get it done. What do you call it? A franchise film!” Nevertheless, SRK went on to explain his desire not to repeat himself for his devoted fans. He emphasized, “I aspire to create new and unique movies, and portray fresh characters for all of you. A film like ‘Dunki’ will resonate with you and provide abundant entertainment! In fact, I believe it will be more entertaining than ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pathaan.'”

With Shah Rukh Khan dropping hints, it seems unlikely that he will reprise his roles as Azaad and Vikram Rathore in ‘Jawan 2.’ Instead, his focus is on ‘Dunki,’ a project helmed by Rajkumar Hirani that has been in the works since last year. This year, the actor has already contributed to a worldwide box office collection exceeding 2000 crores, and ‘Dunki’ is expected to make a significant addition to this total.

The film tackles the sensitive issue of illegal immigration, depicting numerous individuals landing in the UK without legal documentation to reunite with their loved ones. While the teaser was both quirky and attention-grabbing, the film is set to release in December after two more teasers are unveiled.

For those unfamiliar with the film, ‘Dunki’ will face off at the box office with Prabhas’ ‘Salaar.’ Having achieved the milestone of two films, ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pathaan,’ entering the 500 crore club at the domestic box office, it is anticipated that Shah Rukh Khan may soon hold the record for delivering three 500-crore blockbuster films in a single year.
