Scarlett Johansson to Star in Next “Jurassic World” Movie

Directed by Gareth Edwards and Written by David Koepp, the New Film Marks a Fresh Start for the Franchise

Scarlett Johansson has officially confirmed to ComicBook.com that she will headline the upcoming “Jurassic World” movie. The film is being directed by Gareth Edwards, known for “Rogue One” and “Godzilla,” and features a script by David Koepp. Koepp is returning to the dinosaur saga after his work on Steven Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park” (1993) and “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” (1997).

“I am an enormous ‘Jurassic Park’ fan,” Johansson shared. “It is one of the first movies I remember seeing in theaters. I remember it so vividly. It was life-changing and mind-blowing. I cannot express how excited I am.”

Johansson praised the new script for the fourth “Jurassic World” movie, highlighting its fresh storyline, distinct from the previous trilogy starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. The first three “Jurassic World” films each grossed over $1 billion worldwide. In this new installment, Johansson will be joined by Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise, and David Iacono.

“David Koepp wrote it and returned after 30 years to write it and he’s so passionate about it,” Johansson said. “I’ve been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over 10 years. I’m like, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever! I’ll do the craft service!’ I’ll do anything for it. The fact that it’s happened in this way at this time just is actually unbelievable.”

According to Variety, “Jurassic World 4” will utilize locations in Thailand and studios in Malta and the U.K. Spielberg will executive produce the new film through Amblin Entertainment, with “Jurassic Park” producer Frank Marshall and his regular producing partner Patrick Crowley also returning.
