Sanya Malhotra Shines in ‘Mrs.’—A Tale of Dreams and Domesticity
The Hindi adaptation of ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’ premieres on ZEE5 on February 7, 2025, highlighting a woman’s journey to balance her passion for dance with societal expectations.
Sanya Malhotra is set to captivate audiences in her upcoming film, ‘Mrs.’, scheduled for release on ZEE5 on February 7, 2025. This Hindi-language drama, directed by Aarti Kadav, is an official remake of the acclaimed Malayalam film ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’.
In ‘Mrs.’, Malhotra portrays Richa, a trained dancer and dance teacher who, after marrying Diwakar—a wealthy doctor—struggles to meet societal expectations of a wife. The narrative delves into the daily challenges faced by married women striving to pursue their passions amidst societal constraints.
Reflecting on her role, Malhotra shared, “My character’s journey is one of quiet resilience, as she goes from doing the dishes to dreaming big again. It’s been a rewarding challenge to play someone who dares to break free from the routine and find her voice.”
The film also features Kanwaljit Singh and Nishant Dahiya in pivotal roles. The soundtrack is composed by Sagar Desai and Faizan Hussain, with cinematography by Pratham Mehta and editing by Prerna Saigal. Produced by Jio Studios and Baweja Studios, ‘Mrs.’ has garnered international attention, premiering at the 2023 Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and serving as the closing film at the 2024 New York Indian Film Festival, where Malhotra received the ‘Best Actress’ award for her performance.
Looking ahead, Malhotra is set to star in ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ from Dharma Productions, slated for release on April 18, 2025. She is also collaborating with director Anurag Kashyap and actor Bobby Deol on an upcoming project.
Audiences can anticipate a compelling performance from Malhotra in ‘Mrs.’, as she brings to life a story of personal growth and societal expectations.
