Sanya Malhotra Advocates for Shared Parenting Responsibilities Ahead of ‘Mrs.’ Release

The actress challenges societal norms that pressure women to abandon careers post-childbirth, emphasizing the importance of balanced parental duties.

In anticipation of her upcoming film ‘Mrs.’, Bollywood actress Sanya Malhotra delves into the societal pressures that compel women to relinquish their professional aspirations after becoming mothers. She questions the prevailing expectation that women should leave their jobs post-childbirth, highlighting that parenting is a joint endeavor. Malhotra asserts, “But the child is of both, right? It’s both the members’ responsibility. A good balance is what we need.”

Reflecting on her journey, Malhotra attributes her success to an insatiable passion for learning and a willingness to embrace bold choices. She consciously avoids being confined to a particular mold, maintaining a relaxed attitude in life while eagerly experimenting with new challenges in her film career.

Balancing multiple projects, Malhotra prepared for her role in ‘Mrs.’ while simultaneously working on ‘Jawan’ and ‘Sam Bahadur’. After returning from the ‘Sam Bahadur’ shoot, she would engage in discussions with director Arati Kadav to delve deeper into her character and align with the film’s vision.

Looking ahead, 2025 promises to showcase Malhotra in a variety of roles. In ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’, she takes on a character unlike any she’s portrayed before, underscoring her love for pushing boundaries and continually challenging herself.

‘Mrs.’, directed by Arati Kadav, is set to premiere on February 7 on Zee5. The film narrates the story of a trained dancer and dance teacher whose life undergoes a dramatic transformation after marriage.
