Samantha Ruth Prabhu Opens Up About Myositis Battle and Her Fight to Stay in ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’

The actress reveals her personal struggles, her suggestions for replacements, and the determination that kept her in the role.

In a candid interview with Galatta India following the release of her Amazon Prime series Citadel: Honey Bunny, Samantha Ruth Prabhu shared insights into her health challenges during filming. Battling myositis, a chronic condition that impacts muscle strength, Samantha admitted she was on the verge of stepping down from the role.

“I begged Raj-DK [the directors] to replace me,” Samantha revealed during the series’ promotional events. “I even sent them pictures of Kiara [Advani] and Kriti [Sanon]. I told them, ‘Oh my God, she’s so hot. Look at her! She’d be amazing doing action.’ But they replied, ‘We know who they are; you don’t need to introduce us.’”

Despite her pleas, the directors encouraged Samantha to continue, a decision she now cherishes. “Watching this show, I’m so thankful they didn’t replace me. I found the strength to push through, and no matter the outcome of the series, I’m proud of myself for completing it,” she said, reflecting on her journey.

Co-star Varun Dhawan also praised Samantha’s resilience at the teaser launch. “Honestly, my preparation felt easy compared to Samantha’s. Everyone knows what she was battling during filming. Her determination and work ethic were inspiring. We became true partners in bringing this show to life,” he shared.

Samantha’s journey through Citadel: Honey Bunny serves as a testament to her fortitude, proving once again why she remains one of the most admired actors in the industry.
