Ryan Seacrest becomes the new host for US game show ‘Wheel of Fortune’

On June 27, 2023, “American Idol” TV show host Ryan Seacrest announced that he will be the new host of the American game show “Wheel of Fortune” in 2024.

The news comes after American television personality Pat Sajak announced his retirement earlier this month. Sajak’s retirement with the 41st season will mark the end of his over four-decade run as a host for the game show, which also makes him the longest-serving host of any US TV game show.

Seacrest, who also hosts a morning drivetime radio show, will take over the multi-year deal starting with season 42. He announced the news on his Instagram and Twitter and paid tribute to Sadak. In the posts, Seacrest wrote,

“I’m truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak.”

He also paid homage to co-host Vanna White and mentioned that he “can’t wait to continue the tradition of spinning the wheel” and work with her.

It was also reported that Pat Sajak will continue in the role of a consultant for the show after his retirement. Sony Pictures Television announced to have made a multi-year agreement with Seacrest but did not mention the specific duration of his tenure.

In his posts, Ryan Seacrest thanked Sony and also mentioned that he would try to learn everything he can from Pat Sajak during the transition period.
