Ryan Gosling Speaks Out Against Oscars Snubs for Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig

In response to Tuesday’s Oscar nominations, “Barbie” star Ryan Gosling, nominated for best supporting actor, expressed his honor for the recognition but highlighted the absence of Margot Robbie in the best actress category and Greta Gerwig in best director. Gosling emphasized the collaborative effort, stating, “There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no ‘Barbie’ movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film.”
Despite Robbie’s nomination as a producer for best picture and Gerwig’s nod in best-adapted screenplay, their exclusion from the actress and director categories became notable snubs. Gosling praised their talent, grit, and genius, noting, “Their work should be recognized along with the other very deserving nominees.” He also congratulated America Ferrera, nominated for best supporting actress in “Barbie.”
The comedy secured eight nominations, including costume design, production design, and two original songs. Gosling, in competition with Sterling K. Brown, Robert De Niro, Robert Downey Jr., and Mark Ruffalo, received his third Oscar nomination. In an interview with Variety, Ferrera shared her disappointment over Gerwig and Robbie’s omissions, emphasizing Gerwig’s role in creating a global phenomenon and praising Robbie’s unbelievable achievements as an actress.
