Robert Pattinson Expresses Eagerness Amid ‘The Batman Part II’ Delays

Actor humorously laments aging into “old Batman” as production setbacks push sequel’s timeline

Robert Pattinson, set to reprise his role as the Dark Knight, has voiced his impatience over the postponed production of ‘The Batman Part II’. In a candid conversation with his ‘Mickey 17’ co-star Naomi Ackie for Hero Magazine, Pattinson remarked, “I fing hope so,” when asked about commencing the sequel. He added with a laugh, “I started out as young Batman and I’m going to be fing old Batman by the sequel… I’m 38, I’m old.”

The inaugural film, released in 2022, introduced Pattinson as a nascent Batman. However, unforeseen delays have shifted the sequel’s release to 2027, prompting the actor’s jest about aging into the role. Despite the setbacks, Pattinson maintains a positive outlook on his well-being, stating, “I’m old, but I’m healthier. I think I’ve actually brought my biological age down a bit.”

Director Matt Reeves has shed light on the sequel’s progress, revealing that the script is nearing completion. He also confirmed Colin Farrell’s return as the Penguin, emphasizing the interconnectedness of the upcoming ‘The Penguin’ series with ‘The Batman Part II’. Reeves elaborated, “Our entry point is absolutely connected to where we leave things in the series. There are details that actually connect right into the way the next movie begins.”

The narrative is set to delve deeper into Gotham’s intricate web of corruption, building upon the foundation laid in the first installment. Reeves hinted at exploring uncharted facets of the iconic character, promising an expansion that will “show you aspects of the character you never got to see.”

As fans await the continuation of this darker, more grounded portrayal of Gotham City, the anticipation for ‘The Batman Part II’ continues to build, with production expected to commence in late 2025.
