Ranbir Kapoor Reveals Big Plans for ‘Animal’ Franchise and Updates on ‘Brahmastra Part 2’

Ranbir Kapoor, one of Bollywood’s leading stars, continues to captivate audiences with his evolving roles and ambitious projects. After the phenomenal success of Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Kapoor has revealed that the film is just the beginning of a larger franchise. In an exclusive chat with Deadline, the actor spilled intriguing details about the planned trilogy, updates on Brahmastra Part 2, and more.
Kapoor confirmed that the Animal franchise will span three parts, with the second installment, titled Animal Park, slated to begin production in 2027. Sharing insights into Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s vision, Kapoor said, “He [Vanga] always had a bigger narrative in mind. We’ve been bouncing ideas since the first film, and the second part will take the story in a bold new direction.” The sequel introduces an intriguing twist: Kapoor will play dual roles, both the antagonist and protagonist. Explaining the plot, he revealed, “The antagonist undergoes plastic surgery to resemble the protagonist, setting the stage for an intense and unpredictable conflict.”
In the same interview, Kapoor shared updates on Brahmastra Part 2: Dev. Directed by his longtime collaborator and close friend Ayan Mukerji, the film is currently in the writing stage. Kapoor highlighted the franchise’s groundbreaking nature, saying, “Brahmastra was a trailblazer for Indian cinema, and its potential to grow in the coming parts is immense.” When asked if Alia Bhatt, Kapoor’s wife and co-star, will reprise her role, he confirmed, “Of course.”
While Animal Park and Brahmastra Part 2 are generating buzz, Kapoor is also immersed in another highly anticipated project, Ramayana Part 1, ensuring that his slate is as diverse as it is ambitious.
