Ram Charan Reflects on Dream Collaboration with Director Shankar Ahead of ‘Game Changer’ Release

In an event ahead of the film’s release, Ram Charan shares his journey from starstruck fan to working with Shankar on ‘Game Changer,’ set to hit screens.

As the much-anticipated Game Changer, starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, prepares for its theatrical release on January 10, 2025, the film’s team gathered in Mumbai for a promotional event. During this, Ram Charan opened up about his admiration for director Shankar and how he once dreamed of working with him on a Telugu project.

Charan recounted a special moment from the past when he attended the Telugu launch event of Shankar’s remake of 3 Idiots, Nanban. “I was sitting with Shankar sir, thinking, ‘Can I ask him to make a Telugu movie?'” Charan confessed. At the time, Charan had no courage to voice his desire, though he harbored the thought of collaborating with the director on a Telugu film, possibly alongside his father, Chiranjeevi, or other contemporaries.

The actor shared an unforgettable memory from the final days of filming RRR in Hyderabad, when he received an unexpected call from producer Dil Raju. Raju revealed that Shankar had expressed interest in meeting Charan to discuss a new project. Initially skeptical, Charan dismissed the idea, thinking it was too good to be true. However, upon confirming with Raju, he was overjoyed to discover that the meeting was real, marking a career milestone for the actor.

Charan also praised Shankar as a legend in the industry, quoting director SS Rajamouli, who referred to Shankar as the “epitome of commercial cinema.” He further hailed Shankar as the “first pan-Indian director,” expressing his gratitude for being able to work with him.

Game Changer is set to be a political action thriller where Ram Charan plays an IAS officer tackling corruption within the political system. The film features a talented ensemble cast, including Kiara Advani, SJ Suryah, Anjali, and Samuthirakani. As fans eagerly await the film’s release, the excitement surrounding Charan’s collaboration with Shankar continues to grow.
