Rachel Brosnahan Teases Dynamic Take on Lois Lane in Upcoming DCU Blockbuster, Superman: Legacy

In anticipation of the 2025 release of Superman: Legacy, Rachel Brosnahan, who plays Lois Lane in the DC Universe (DCU), has provided a glimpse into her portrayal of the iconic character. During a recent red carpet interview with ET, the actress used descriptors like “feisty,” “marvelous,” and “fiercely intelligent” to characterize her version of Lois Lane.
Brosnahan expressed her enthusiasm for collaborating with James Gunn, the director of Superman: Legacy and co-CEO of DC Studios. Fresh from her lead role in Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, she highlighted the deep-rooted love that the entire production team shares for the Man of Steel and their extensive history with the character.
The actress emphasized the collective passion for Superman within the team, stating, “Everybody involved in this production is such a perfect nerd for Superman. We all grew up watching the movies, some of us grew up watching the comics. I feel like it’s being made with so much love, and this Superman will have a sense of humor. We’re excited to both put our own spin on things, but also honor this material that we all love so much.”
Superman: Legacy is poised to be the inaugural live-action project in the new DC universe, kicking off DCU Chapter One. Preceding it will be Creature Commandos, with The Witcher’s Anya Chalotra recently confirmed to join the cast. Superman: Legacy is scheduled to take flight on July 11, 2025.
Joining Brosnahan in the cast will be the new Superman actor, David Corenswet, along with notable names such as Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabel Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
