Prime Video India to Premiere Original Film “Ae Watan Mere Watan” Globally on World Radio Day

Prime Video India has announced that their original film “Ae Watan Mere Watan” will make its global debut on March 21, coinciding with World Radio Day. The movie, featuring Sara Ali Khan in a leading role, will be available on the over-the-top streaming platform.

Sara Ali Khan took to Instagram to share the news, captioning her post with, “Desh ki kahaani, Usha ki zubaani World Radio Day par! #AeWatanMereWatanOnPrime, Mar 21 only on @primevideoin.” The announcement clip features Sara in character as Usha, a woman operating a secret radio channel during the British colonial period, promising listeners a dawn of Independent India.

“Ae Watan Mere Watan” narrates the tale of an underground radio station that played a pivotal role in India’s struggle for independence. Inspired by real-life freedom fighter Usha Mehta, the film pays tribute to the countless unsung heroes whose dedication and sacrifice contributed to India’s freedom.

The historical thriller will be available in Hindi, with dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Karan Johar, in a press release, expressed his excitement for the film, stating, “Ae Watan Mere Watan pays homage to the significant role radio played in uniting the country and igniting the spirit of the Quit India Movement.”

Directed by Kannan Iyer and written by Darab Farooqui, the movie boasts a star-studded cast including Emraan Hashmi in a surprise cameo, along with Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, Alexx O’Neil, and Anand Tiwari. Produced by Apoorva Mehta, Somen Mishra, and Karan Johar, “Ae Watan Mere Watan” is a Dharmatic Entertainment production.
