Pooja Hegde Replaces Sreeleela in Varun Dhawan’s Next Romantic Comedy with David Dhawan

The father-son duo reunites for a rom-com titled Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, with filming schedules set across Mumbai, Goa, and abroad.

Varun Dhawan, known for his charm and versatility, continues to be a fan favorite, with audiences eagerly awaiting updates on his upcoming projects. While promoting his OTT debut series, Citadel Honey Bunny, the actor has also confirmed that he will soon begin work on his next romantic comedy, tentatively titled Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, directed by his father David Dhawan.

Though early reports hinted that South Indian actress Sreeleela would be making her Bollywood debut opposite Varun in this film, new updates reveal that Pooja Hegde has officially taken on the role of the female lead. This film marks the first on-screen collaboration between Varun and Pooja, adding to the excitement among fans.

Pooja Hegde, a prominent actress from the South Indian industry, has previously been seen in Bollywood films such as Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Mohenjo Daro, Cirkus, and Housefull 4. Although the actress remained tight-lipped about her involvement, she hinted at exploring new opportunities in a recent interview, saying, “I took a step back to reflect on my filmography and strategize my next steps.”

The romantic comedy promises to bring back the flavor of David Dhawan’s signature style, with Varun returning to the genre where audiences love him the most. Varun and David have previously collaborated on hit films like Coolie No.1, Judwaa 2, and Main Tera Hero, and fans have high hopes for this new project.

As per reports from Midday, production will ramp up with a second schedule in Goa, starting November 6, followed by additional shoots in Mumbai through the end of the year. The team is also planning a foreign schedule to kick off 2025 with an international flair.

For now, Varun remains busy promoting Citadel Honey Bunny, co-starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Once promotions wrap up, the actor will dive straight into preparations for Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, promising fans a fun-filled rom-com that celebrates love and youthful energy.
