Pete Davidson Defends Pedro Pascal Against ‘Overexposed’ Criticism
On Theo Von’s podcast, Davidson says Pascal’s decades of struggle and sudden rise deserve patience, not backlash

Pedro Pascal’s recent flood of high-profile roles has drawn some criticism, with viewers suggesting he’s appearing “in too many things at once.” From The Last of Us Season 2 to Gladiator II, Eddington, Materialists, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Pascal has been a constant presence on screens over the past year. But Pete Davidson believes the backlash is unfair.
Speaking on This Past Weekend with Theo Von, the former SNL star praised Pascal as a “hardworking” and “great actor,” highlighting his long journey before his current success. Davidson pointed out that Pascal has spent nearly 30 years working toward this level of fame and deserves the space to adjust to the overwhelming attention.
“He’s worked so hard, been a struggling actor, and then he blows up so fast,” Davidson said. “Everyone’s like ‘Daddy, daddy,’ and then a year later it’s, ‘Go away, dude.’ You’ve got to give someone time to adjust.”
Davidson added that Pascal is still learning to handle day-to-day fame, from being recognized at a coffee shop to strangers tapping him on the shoulder in public. He also warned that this cycle of building someone up only to tear them down happens quickly, predicting that actor Walton Goggins might be the next target.
Despite the criticism, Pascal isn’t slowing down. He’s set to return in The Mandalorian and Grogu movie and will reprise his role as Mister Fantastic in Avengers: Doomsday, both slated for 2026 releases.
